Agent's recommendation – a peaceful oasis away from the city rush

Written by: Emilija Živičnjak, Zagreb Office

My career as a real estate agent began in 2008, when I joined the Zagreb office of Biliskov Real Estate. In 2014, I took a short career break while spending some time with my daughter in Sydney, Australia.

Working as a real estate agent is both exciting and dynamic, and being part of a talented, ambitious, and dedicated team makes the experience even more rewarding. There is no room for routine or monotony. Every day brings the opportunity to meet new people and learn something new.

I am a licensed real estate agent and hold a degree in political science. By nature, I am curious, communicative, and optimistic. One of the greatest satisfactions in my work is helping clients find the property that will become their future home.

Buying or selling a property is an emotional milestone for both buyers and sellers, and perhaps the greatest challenge of this profession is knowing how to be a good listener—and, at times, a psychologist. It is essential to patiently understand each client's lifestyle, priorities, expectations, and financial possibilities while helping them navigate the stress and uncertainty that often accompanies one of the biggest investments of their lives.

Ultimately, the greatest reward is a satisfied client after successfully completing a property transaction.

Changing Buyer Preferences

In today's "new normal," homes have become much more than places to live—they also serve as offices, classrooms, and gyms. As a result, every additional square meter has become increasingly valuable, leading to noticeably higher demand for houses and building plots compared to previous years.

During the second half of 2020, we sold dozens of residential building plots in neighborhoods such as Gajnice, Gornje Vrapče, and Gornja Kustošija. Many buyers have realized that purchasing land and building a new family home can cost less than buying a three-bedroom apartment in areas such as Maksimir or Jarun.

The Growing Appeal of Country Living

People who have already solved their housing needs in the city are increasingly looking for rural properties within easy reach of Zagreb. The opportunity to escape the city for weekends has become more attractive than ever.

Properties located within approximately one hour's drive of Zagreb offer the perfect retreat for those seeking nature, peace, and tranquility. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, spending time in a country house surrounded by open space has proven far more relaxing than remaining in a city apartment.

A Property Worth Discovering

Just 50 minutes from Zagreb, in the village of Novaki, lies a beautiful family estate covering 15,000 square meters of land.

The property features a fully renovated 80-square-meter single-story house, along with a 40-square-meter covered outdoor pavilion complete with a barbecue area.

The house retains its traditional charm and includes two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom. The beautifully maintained garden surrounds an orchard, while the property also benefits from its own private well supplying fresh drinking water.

The asking price for this unique countryside retreat is €69,000.
